Ken'ulh K'it Yikh Housing

Studio 9 worked with the Dze L K’ant Housing Society (DLK) and Terra Housing to develop a 37-unit, 3-storey apartment building for much needed housing for Indigenous people in Smithers. This initiative put forward by the Dze L K’ant Housing Society is funded by BC Housing and the Indigenous Housing Fund. The building features a wide variety of units from small studio apartments to 4-bedroom units. After community consultation performed by DLK, it was highlighted that providing housing that was uniquely Indigenous in character and creating homes specifically for seniors and families was important to the local Indigenous community of Smithers.
